What’s special about Spark Community is that it creates a context for many other solutions to exist. Whether physical or virtual, Spark Community is the glue that binds it all together. One small community is a complete solution or an ecosystem of solutions. Solutions might include renewable energy, green building, organic farming, home automation, personal health tracking, environmental sensors, or next generation mobile technology. Unlike so many products that solve a small problem, Spark Community gives a bigger home to many solutions and that makes it one big solution. As a result, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Spark Community is a complex system where feedback mechanisms are sped up. Interconnectivity and rapid feedback allows the system to become more intelligent—to evolve more quickly. The result is a smarter design, which optimizes system needs: people, nature, and technology. When the system becomes fully optimized there is fluid balance. The balance is fluid because variables such as sunlight and weather are always changing. Through optimization, our community design can help meet the needs of the system while reducing impact on the environment. Such an idea depends on recycling and living within our means, which requires simple-living, conservation, and smart thinking through innovative solutions.
So, what’s special about Spark Community? It’s so much more than just a game. Spark Community is a technological and design solution that helps people understand how to live in harmony with the world around them. Finding ways to live with nature rather than against it is enormously valuable. We will eventually find that ideas like Spark Community will only become more valuable with time. The ideas contained with our game project have the potential to replace the model of destruction by which we currently live. In the end, a simplified system like the one we propose, can help support people to learn, grow, and change.
